How to Set Up Taxes for Menu Items

Setting taxes on individual menu items

item tax

On each menu item, you have to enter the aggregated tax rate (percentage) of the product. That means that all the state and county taxes need to be added up if applicable.

Why do you need to do it on a single item basis?

As you might know, some states have additional Sales Tax. In some locations, food that is cooked, such as a lasagna, is taxed. But if you buy the ingredients and go home to cook it yourself, it's considered grocery store items and in that case, the tax might be just 1% or nothing at all.
